We are pleased to share that Applied and Environmental Microbiology has published the article “Discovery of MBL-AB01: a novel antibacterial xanthone antibiotic with high activity against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus” by K.F. Degnes et al. (Vol. 92, Issue 1, 2026; DOI: 10.1128/aem.01346-25).

This study reports the identification of MBL-AB01, a newly discovered xanthone antibiotic demonstrating exceptionally strong activity against MRSA, one of the most challenging multidrug resistant pathogens. The findings highlight MBL-AB01 as a promising lead compound in the search for innovative antimicrobial therapies.
